Andrew Gross
Organization: Miller Electric
Industry: Manufacturing
I work for Miller Electric, the leading welding manufacturer in the United States. I support Southwest Washington, Oregon, and Alaska, which allows me to connect with schools across the Pacific Northwest and share real industry opportunities with students.
As many teachers know, the U.S. is facing a significant welding workforce shortage. National reports project a need for more than 300,000 welders over the next few years, driven by an aging workforce, increased demand in construction and manufacturing, and a lack of young people entering the skilled trades. This shortage is creating major opportunities for students who pursue welding and fabrication pathways—whether in manufacturing, construction, energy, aerospace, or advanced automation.
I’m passionate about working with the next generation and helping them get excited about welding. I regularly partner with schools to provide industry insight, classroom support, equipment knowledge, and career guidance. My goal is to help educators bring real-world relevance into their classrooms and to help students see welding as a high-demand, high-opportunity career.
If you’re looking to bring industry into your classroom, build stronger welding pathways, or give students exposure to real welding careers, I’d be excited to work with you.
